How to read this report
- Each card opens with the question that source can answer, and right under it the answer in one line.
- The source’s value is quoted word for word on white; TerraOverview’s reading, which is ours, sits on sand and is always labelled.
- Where a source has no data for the point the card says so: no data is not the absence of risk.
= TerraOverview interpretation (sand ground, dashed border) = value published by the source, unchanged (white ground, solid border)

What to know about this point
The categories where a source reports something on the point, the most relevant first by our rules. Each entry opens its card, where the source’s own value is quoted in full.
Observed earthquakes (seismic history) Significant flag
Strongest intensity observed within 5 km: 8 or above (ruinous effects)
An intensity is assessed on a settlement, over a set of buildings: within one village the effects vary with the ground and with how the houses are built.
Observations weaker than 4 — «felt», «not felt» — stay in the database and are not listed here.
According to the source INGV 2022
Ground motion Flag present
Vertical ground motion: subsidence measured
The ground has gone down.
A change beyond twice the measurement uncertainty, on the mean of the 100 m cell that contains the point, measured from satellites.
According to the source Copernicus EGMS 2026
Seismic Flag present
Baseline seismic hazard: medium-high
Band 2 of 4: strong earthquakes are possible.
Reference acceleration 0.15–0.25 g, at the nearest node of the INGV grid.
According to the source INGV 2004
Contaminated sites Flag present
Remediation procedure within 250 m: site found not contaminated
The procedure closed without establishing contamination, or with values below the legal thresholds.
The procedure concerns a site recorded in this area within the 250 m of accuracy ISPRA declares, not the queried point. Data as of 31/12/2021.
According to the source ISPRA MOSAICO 2021
Air quality Flag present
Assessment of the zone: at least one limit or target value exceeded
In the reference year at least one limit or target value set to protect human health was exceeded.
The exceedance is established for the zone, the unit in which the law verifies the limits, and it obliges the Region to adopt an air quality plan.

Legend of the source — INGV
- Intensity observed 8 or above (5 km circle)
- Intensity observed 6 to 7 (5 km circle)
- Intensity observed 4 to 5 (5 km circle)
- 5000 m
5 km circles around the point INGV publishes for each locality: the distance is TerraOverview’s choice, not a measurement of the source, and the circle is not the extent of the settlement. The colour is the strongest intensity observed there, in degrees of the MCS scale. The map also draws nearby localities whose circle does not cover the queried point: those are the faint ones, with a dashed outline, and they are not in the report. Where there is no circle no study recorded observations: it does not mean there were no earthquakes.

TerraOverview interpretation
Vertical ground motion: subsidence measured
The ground has gone down.
A change beyond twice the measurement uncertainty, on the mean of the 100 m cell that contains the point, measured from satellites.
What it means: by how many millimetres a year the ground moved on average over the period the satellites measured: it does not say why it moves, nor whether it will continue.
Note: it is the average of a 100 m cell: a single building can move differently. The threshold, twice the measurement uncertainty, is TerraOverview’s, not the source’s. The risk to a building also depends on how it is built: it is not provided by this source and TerraOverview does not compute it.

The point falls inside the source’s area or cell.
Notes on this source
- In the 100 metre cell that contains the point, EGMS reports a negative vertical mean velocity more than twice the uncertainty, that is the larger of the standard deviation published for the cell and the 0.7 mm/year EGMS states as the product specification: over the period measured the ground subsided on average. The threshold is TerraOverview’s choice, not the source’s.
- It is the average of the 100 metre cell that contains the point, measured by the Sentinel-1 radar satellites over the period shown: a single building can move differently from the cell's average, and the product's geolocation is better than 10 metres. The point is on the edge of the cell: the neighbouring cell may report a different value.

TerraOverview interpretation
Baseline seismic hazard: medium-high
Band 2 of 4: strong earthquakes are possible.
Reference acceleration 0.15–0.25 g, at the nearest node of the INGV grid.
What it means: the band tells how strongly the ground is expected to shake, not the damage that would follow. The value has a 10% probability of being exceeded in 50 years, is computed for rigid ground (without the amplification of the local soil) and refers to the nearest INGV grid node.
Note: this is not the municipality’s seismic zone, which the Region assigns. Seismic risk also accounts for the vulnerability of buildings and the people and property exposed: it is not provided by this source and TerraOverview does not compute it.
According to the source — INGV (2004)
ag 0.1670 g · 16perc 0.1469 · 84perc 0.1744 · id 104350
The point falls inside the source’s area or cell.
How to read this format
"ag" is the peak horizontal ground acceleration at the grid node, with a 10% probability of exceedance in 50 years. "16perc" and "84perc" are the 16th and 84th percentiles of the same estimate — how uncertain the model is around "ag" — and they are the column names of the INGV file. "id" identifies the grid node.
Notes on this source
- At the nearest grid node, INGV computes a peak horizontal acceleration between 0.15 g and 0.25 g with 10% probability of exceedance in 50 years: the second of the four intervals defined by OPCM 3519/2006. The value is for rigid ground and excludes local amplification; it is not the municipality’s seismic zone, which the Region assigns by its own procedure and with a tolerance of 0.025 g.
- The value is the one INGV computed at the nearest grid node, on a mesh of about 2230 metres, and refers to rigid ground (Vs30 > 800 m/s) on level topography. Local amplification by soil and landform is not included.

- The Italian Macroseismic Database records, for a locality within 5 kilometres of the point — a distance TerraOverview chose — at least one earthquake of intensity 8 or above on the MCS scale, the degree at which the scale describes buildings ruined and partial collapses. An intensity is the effect observed in that settlement, not a measurement at the address, and it does not say whether or when it will happen again. The observations are listed strongest first, with the year, the epicentral area and the magnitude CPTI15 gives that earthquake. Those below intensity 4 are not listed.

What it means: it is a register of administrative procedures, not a map of the ground: it says a procedure was opened on a site in this area, and what state that site was in at the reference date.
Note: the position of the site carries 250 m of declared accuracy, so the procedure may concern neighbouring ground and not the ground at the point. The data stop at 31/12/2021: the competent authority named in the record is the source of its current state. The ground at the queried point has been examined by no procedure.

Notes on this source
- MOSAICO records a remediation procedure on a site the source classifies as «Non contaminato» (not contaminated): the procedure was opened and closed without establishing contamination, or with values below the legal thresholds. The recorded position of the site, within the 250 metres of accuracy ISPRA declares, covers the queried point. It is an outcome concerning that site and that procedure at the reference date (31/12/2021), and says nothing about the ground at the queried point, which no procedure has examined.
- The procedure is recorded with certainty; its position is not. ISPRA declares a positional accuracy of 250 metres for these coordinates, so the point falls inside the area within which the site is located, not on the site. The data are as of 31/12/2021 and a procedure may have moved since: the competent authority is the source of its current state.

TerraOverview interpretation
Assessment of the zone: at least one limit or target value exceeded
In the reference year at least one limit or target value set to protect human health was exceeded.
The exceedance is established for the zone, the unit in which the law verifies the limits, and it obliges the Region to adopt an air quality plan.
What it means: the assessment is of an air quality zone — tens of kilometres — which is the unit in which the law verifies compliance with the limit values, and it rests on the worst values its stations measured.
Note: it is not the air at this address: concentrations vary over tens of metres, the stations are few relative to the size of a zone, and no zoning can estimate it. The outcome is for the year stated.
According to the source — EEA (2025)
ZON.IT0890 · 2025 · O3 46/25 days (Days in exceedance averaged over 3 calendar years) · 12 pollutants assessed · 4 fixed stations
The point falls inside the source’s area or cell.
How to read this format
For each pollutant the source gives the worst value measured in the zone, then a slash, then the exceedance threshold for that metric. In brackets is the EEA’s own name for the metric, which may itself contain a slash: "NO2 53/40 µg/m³ (Annual mean / average)" therefore reads as an annual mean of 53 measured against a threshold of 40.
Notes on this source
- In the air quality zone containing the point, at least one limit or target value set to protect human health was exceeded in the reference year. The exceedance is established for the zone, which is the unit in which the law verifies compliance: it obliges the Region to adopt an air quality plan. The values reported are the worst measured by the zone’s stations and are not the air quality at an address, which varies over tens of metres.
- The assessment concerns the zone, which is the unit in which the law establishes compliance with limit values, and a zone can be tens of kilometres across. The values quoted are the worst measured by the zone's stations in 2025: they are not the air quality at an address, which varies between a street front and a courtyard behind it and which no zoning can estimate.

Context value
TerraOverview interpretation: soil consumed around the point, measured on the ISPRA map
What it means: the share tells how much of the soil around the point is artificially covered: buildings, roads, yards, building sites. It matters for summer heat and for how much rain the ground can absorb.
Note: there is no threshold at which this share becomes a problem: it is a measurement, not a judgement. It says nothing about what may be built there: it is not a planning datum, and the rules on building are the municipality’s.
Computed by TerraOverview from data by ISPRA
111 - Edifici, fabbricati · soil consumed 98.7% within 100 m (310 pixels of 314) · soil consumed 97.6% within 500 m (7,662 pixels of 7,849)
Map not available
Notes on this source
- TerraOverview counts the 10 metre pixels of the national soil consumption map inside two circles around the confirmed point, one of 100 and one of 500 metres, and reports how much of the soil the map covers is under artificial cover — permanent or reversible, as ISPRA distinguishes them. The class of the pixel at the point is the source’s instead, in its own words. There is no threshold at which TerraOverview would call it too much: it is a measurement of the context, not a flag.
- The map is photo-interpreted on 10 metre pixels: the boundary between consumed and unconsumed soil is precise to that size, and a small yard or canopy can fall in the neighbouring pixel. The share is a count of pixels, not a survey on the ground.

The climate to come

ScenarioLow emissions scenario (SSP1-2.6); high emissions scenario (SSP3-7.0).
TerraOverview summary
Scenario
TerraOverview interpretation: low emissions scenario (SSP1-2.6), thirty years centred on 2050
TerraOverview interpretation: high emissions scenario (SSP3-7.0), thirty years centred on 2050
What it means: these are climate model projections: the mean change expected in the grid cell of about 5.5 km between the thirty years 2036-2065 and the 1985-2014 reference period, computed by TerraOverview from the CMCC daily fields. CMCC publishes the value of every single day; the four indicators are computed by us, and the heatwave definition is ours.
Note: this is a scenario, not a forecast: it describes how the climate would change if emissions followed that pathway, and the two pathways are shown together because which one to consider plausible is the reader’s judgement. The values come from a single climate model: there is no spread between models, so they do not say how far models disagree with each other. For precipitation and dry days this weighs more than elsewhere — at mid-century the two pathways are two tenths of a degree apart, less than a single model varies on its own, and the difference between the two scenarios on those two lines must not be read as an effect of the scenario. The value is for a cell 5.5 km across, not for the building.

| Scenario SSP1-2.6 | Scenario SSP3-7.0 | |

| mean temperature | +1.6 °C | +1.8 °C |

| annual precipitation | −3 mm/year | +11 mm/year |

Notes on this source
- SSP1-2.6 is the low emissions pathway among those the IPCC considered in its sixth assessment: it assumes global emissions fall rapidly and warming stays close to the limits of the Paris Agreement. The values are the mean change expected in the grid cell, about 5.5 km across, between the thirty years 2036-2065 and the 1985-2014 reference period, computed by TerraOverview from the daily values CMCC publishes. They come from a single climate model: there is no range between models, so these numbers do not say how far models disagree with each other, and for precipitation and dry days the difference between the two scenarios at mid-century is smaller than a single model varies on its own. This is a scenario, not a forecast, and it concerns a cell 5.5 km across, not the building.
- SSP3-7.0 is a high emissions pathway, in which climate policy stays weak and international cooperation weakens; in the IPCC’s sixth assessment it is not the upper extreme, but it is the common reference for a world without additional policy. It is shown beside SSP1-2.6 and never alone: which of the two pathways to consider plausible is the reader’s judgement, and showing only one would be making it for them. The values are the mean change expected in the cell between 2036-2065 and 1985-2014, from a single climate model and therefore with no range between models beside them. This is a scenario, not a forecast.
- This is a scenario, not a forecast: it describes how the climate would change if emissions followed that pathway, and pathways are assumptions. The value is that of a cell about 5.5 km across, not of the building. Heatwave days are counted against a fixed threshold taken from that same cell's 1985-2014 climate: in a warmer climate a threshold that does not move is crossed far more often, and that is what the increase measures.

Method and limits
How to read the report, how coverage is established, notes and limitations.
- The value is given in the language and the terms of the body that publishes it, without translation or rewording. Lines marked "Computed by TerraOverview" are not published by the source: they are computed from its data, by the method named beside them.
- The TerraOverview summary is our own work, produced by published, versioned rules: the interpretation of each official class and the level of each category. It is not a judgement of the source and does not add up to a score.
- Every source is in one of three states: a value at the point; an area covered, with no zone flagged at the point; no data for this area. The absence of a value is not a statement about the phenomenon, in either direction.
- This document is for information: it is not a survey, it is not a certification and it is not a professional assessment of a place or a property.
Each value is reported in the language and the terms of the body that publishes it, untranslated and unrephrased: translating a source’s classification would change it. Below it, in smaller type, is what TerraOverview reads it as, in the language chosen here. The exception is any row marked “Computed by TerraOverview”: there the value is not published by the source but calculated from its data, by the method linked in the corresponding section.
Cartographic rendering produced by TerraOverview from the data of the source named, for the area around the confirmed point. It is not an official map of that body.
How coverage is established
The coverage of this source is not published by the source: TerraOverview derived it from the union of the mapped perimeters.
The source declares that it covers the countries participating in Copernicus, Italy included, but publishes a value only where it has a measurement: in areas of high relief, for instance, radar geometry prevents full coverage. TerraOverview reports this source where a measurement exists; where none exists it makes no statement, and in particular does not state that the ground is not moving.
This source is a register of administrative procedures, not a map of the territory. The source declares national scope and, in the same document, declares that the regional registers feeding it are uneven and that some regions transmitted nothing. TerraOverview reports this source where a procedure is recorded; anywhere else it says nothing at all, and in particular does not say that there is none.
The source declares that it covers the whole national territory. To decide whether a point falls within it TerraOverview uses the ISTAT administrative boundaries (CC BY 4.0), simplified to 50 metres: the extent is the source’s statement, the boundary it is tested against is not. Within fifty metres of a border or a coastline the answer can fall on the wrong side, and there the reading is the more cautious of the two.
Notes and limitations
- The data comes from the sources named beside each value. TerraOverview collects and organises it: it is not the body that produced it, and it does not alter classifications, units or terminology.
- Sources update their datasets over time. Every value carries the dataset version and the date the source declares; for the current version, the original source governs.
- The presence or absence of a value is not a certification, in either direction. Where a source publishes nothing for an area, the value does not exist in that dataset — it does not mean the phenomenon cannot occur.
- TerraOverview readings are our own work, produced by published, versioned rules from the source’s classification. They are labelled as such wherever they appear.
- The point this report refers to is the one confirmed on the map by whoever ordered it: the accuracy of that position is the responsibility of the person who confirmed it, and every value here applies to that point.
- The content is for information. It is not a survey, it is not a certification and it is not a professional assessment of a place or a property.
- For technical, planning, property or legal decisions, consult the official sources and, where needed, qualified professionals.
